Mayors Voice Support for AT&T Deal With T-Mobile

<p> More than 100 U.S. mayors have expressed support for AT&T's proposed acquisition of mobile rival T-Mobile USA, AT&T said Wednesday.</p> <p> The mayors of Miami, St. Louis and Sacramento, California, are among those from 24 states calling for the U.S. Federal Communications Commission and the U.S. Department of Justice to approve the deal. AT&T announced in March that it planned to purchase T-Mobile USA for US$39 billion.</p>

<p> <b>The FCC decides to review AT&T's proposed acquisition of T-Mobile and Qualcomm spectrum licensing together.</b></p> <p> The Federal Communications Commission dealt a blow to network operator AT&T by tying together the company’s proposed acquisition of rival carrier T-Mobile USA with a $1.9 billion deal that would see AT&T acquire some of Qualcomm’s spectrum licenses. The agency sent the letter to AT&T and Qualcomm executives on the last day of the 180-day review.</p>

<p> A new study by Stanford researchers has found many online advertising companies continue to follow people's Web activity even after users believe they have opted out of tracking.</p> <p> <span id="mn_Article">The preliminary research has sparked renewed calls from privacy groups and Congress for a "Do Not Track" law to allow people to opt out of tracking, like the Do Not Call list that limits telemarketers. </span></p>
