U.S. Gasoline Prices Projected To Hit $2.03 By December

<p>U.S. gasoline prices are projected to fall through the end of the year to almost $2 a gallon -- but California drivers won't be so fortunate.</p> <p>The U.S. Energy Information Administration said Wednesday that low oil prices and the end of the summer driving season will continue to propel a decline in gasoline prices nationwide.</p> <p>AAA reported the current national average for a gallon of regular gasoline at $2.38. In California, the state average was $3.25, and the Los Angeles region was at $3.45 a gallon.</p>

Jerry Brown’s former top spokesman and challenged Chevron Corp. Chief Executive John Watson to a public debate on gas prices.</p>

L.A. Gas Prices Drop More Than 20 Cents From July Highs

<p>After soaring well above the rest of the nation, the average gasoline price in the Los Angeles region fell almost 25 cents below their highs of a month ago.</p> <p>The average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in the L.A. area Monday stood at $3.81, according to AAA. In mid-July, AAA’s survey found the average price for the region reached a high of $4.05 a gallon.</p> <p>Analysts attributed the drop to falling crude oil prices and increased production at U.S. refineries.</p>

<p>As gas prices slowly drop across the region, California motorists can take a sigh of relief after spending $1.2 billion more on gas than the rest of the nation in July, while refineries brought in record profits, according to Consumer Watchdog.</p> <p>The group, a nonprofit that advocates on behalf of consumer interests, said California drivers spent $201 more on gas last month than people in the rest of the country.</p>
