The Green Haze is Lifting

Californians are beginning to see through the haze of the governor’s green smoke machine.

A statewide poll by the Public Policy Institute of California found less than half (47%) of Californians approve of the way the governor is handling the environment. That’s well down from the 55% who believed the governor was an environmental hero in January (when he signed greenhouse gas legislation and the green machine was running at full steam) but still not the abysmal 39% who approved of his environmental performance in July of last year (before the green gov had turned over his new leaf).

Arnold has only himself to blame for this decreasing public support.
The governor made expansive promises on the environment, but hasn’t
translated those promises into action. Recent revelations — among
them, his administration’s attempts to thwart implementation of the heralded greenhouse gas law
— have made it look like the gov is just paying lip service to a
cause. It’s time for Arnold to turn off the smoke machine and prove how
much he loves the environment.
