Alka Airy joined our advocacy team following the death of her sister Shilpa. Shilpa Airy endured medical negligence at two separate hospitals in San Francisco following an endoscopy that damaged both of her lungs. Later, at another hospital, she was denied cardiac treatment and a double lung transplant. Alka came forward to represent the public at a Senate Rules Committee hearing in 2021. Following that appearance, she has testified before legislative committee hearings, sunset review hearings, and the Medical Board of California. She has been one of the most committed members of our team. Alka’s focus in on medical board reform, education, and lung transplant advocacy. She resides in San Francisco.
