Will Patients’ Bill Of Rights Be Bushwhacked ?

President Bush is apparently readying a new poison pill measure to stop a bi-partisan, compromise HMO patients’ bill of rights that has enough votes to reach his desk. Toward this end, Bush managed to delay the announcement of Charlie Norwood’s support for the compromise measure.

‘The question now is whether a bi-partisan compromise patients’ rights measure will be Bushwhacked by a president who claims he wants to bring the nation together in a bipartisan spirit?” said Jamie Court, executive director of FTCR. “This type of divisive, cash-register politics will guarantee that this president lives up to the legacy of his father as a one term executive.”
