<p>More than 840,000 voter signatures turned in by consumer advocates and families victimized by medical negligence have qualified a landmark patient safety ballot measure for the November 2014 California ballot, according to the Secretary of State's office. Voters will have a chance then to enact the Troy and Alana Pack Patient Safety Act and some of the strongest patient safety laws in America.<br /> <br />

KCBS TV-2 Los Angeles – UC Board Of Regents Agrees To Pay Surgeon $10M To Settle Whistleblower Suit

<p>The University of California Board of Regents agreed to pay the former chair of UCLA’s Department of Orthopaedic Surgery $10 million to settle a whistleblower lawsuit.</p> <p>Dr. Robert Pedowitz, 54, sued UC regents and numerous UCLA doctors in 2012, claiming he suffered retaliation after making serious allegations about undisclosed money doctors were allegedly receiving from the medical industry.</p> <p>The case was about to go into closing arguments at the trial when suddenly, a settlement was reached, KCAL9′s Randy Paige reported.</p>
