Insurance Industry Spokesman Maviglio Caught Vandalizing Car On Video; Consumer Watchdog Writes To Inform Head of Trade Group

Los Angeles, CA – Consumer Watchdog has written the head of the American Property Casualty Insurance Association with a video showing its Sacramento spokesperson, Steve Maviglio, vandalizing the windshield wiper of a neighbor’s car. The video was first posted by A Schism In Blue on Substack.

In the video, he is seen jumping on a neighbor’s car and vindictively ripping off the windshield wiper,” Consumer Watchdog President Jamie Court wrote to APCIA President and CEO David Sampson. “Whatever drove this vandalism, its unbecoming for a spokesperson for the American Property Casualty Insurance Association. It’s ironic that APCIA, an association of insurance companies dedicated to protecting property, including vehicles, would employ a person who vandalized another’s car.

“This is not the worst of Steve Maviglio’s sins,” Court continued. “As a public relations representative hired to tarnish our reputation, he is willing to cross all lines of propriety. For decades he has engaged in outright lies to try to damage our consumer group, Consumer Watchdog, which has represented California policyholders for nearly 40 years. This video shows who he is: an unhinged individual willing to do whatever it takes to get what he wants, including violate the law.”

The letter concluded: “We may have substantive disagreements about insurance reform, but Maviglio operates in the gutter.  We bring this video to your attention to shed a light on who is representing you to the public.”
