Follows Recommendation of Senate Insurance Report Today

SB 1805 was introduced to place the Department of Insurance‘s final examinations of insurance companies’ claims practices on the Department’s website. The legislation authored by Senator Martha Escutia and sponsored by the Foundation for Taxpayer and Consumer Rights (FTCR) embodies one of the final recommendations of the Senate Committee on Insurance’s report on the Quackenbush scandal, which were issued today.

“The public has the right to know what misconduct its regulators find,” said Doug Heller of FTCR. “If the legislature cannot enact this simple sunshine law recommended by the Senate, then the insurance industry will have proven that it owns the state house.”

SB 1805 will be heard today in a Assembly Insurance Committee hearing off the Assembly floor. It is file item 148 on the Assembly Daily File.
