AT&T continues to pony up cash in appreciation of the governor’s signature on legislation deregulating the pay-tv market in AT&T’s favor. Days after reports of a $500,000 gift by the company to Arnold’s after-school charity for kids, the Sacramento Bee reports eight company executives gave the gov $40,000
to help retire $2.4 million in debt from his 2006 campaign. The late
hour of the gifts let the AT&T honchos delay when the public would
connect the dots (between the money and the governor’s support) until
it could have no effect on Arnold’s re-election.
