State Farm Fire Survivor Complaints

Background: Consumer Watchdog recently negotiated a landmark settlement in State Farm’s California homeowners insurance rate case that is expected to save California policyholders approximately $530 million compared with the rate increases State Farm originally requested. As part of that settlement, Consumer Watchdog secured an agreement requiring State Farm to receive and review individual policyholder complaints related to 2025 wildfire claims through the company’s existing claims-handling and reconsideration procedures.

IMPORTANT: Consumer Watchdog will share the information and materials you submit through this form with State Farm, as provided under the settlement agreement. State Farm has agreed to acknowledge receipt of forwarded complaints and review them in good faith. Consumer Watchdog cannot promise that submission of this form will guarantee any particular result or change to your policy or claims handling.

With your permission, Consumer Watchdog may also share your complaint, contact information, and supporting materials with public enforcement agencies, including the California Department of Insurance (CDI) and other appropriate government agencies, to help identify possible claims-handling violations or patterns of misconduct.

With your separate permission, Consumer Watchdog may use information submitted through this form in aggregate, de-identified form for public reports, advocacy, testimony, regulatory comments, litigation, media work, and other public-interest purposes. Consumer Watchdog will not publicly identify you by name, publish your contact information, claim number, policy number, address, photographs, videos, correspondence, or other materials that reasonably identify you without your express permission.

Please fill out the form below with a description of your insurance claims experience, including as much detail as possible on what you believe are potential inaccuracies, delays, inadequate or “low-balled” estimates, and denials you have experienced. Upload any documents or other materials that help support your complaint, including direct correspondence with State Farm. If you have submitted a complaint to the California Department of Insurance please share all documentation previously submitted with that complaint, including the result of that complaint to CDI.
