Nearly 30 years ago, her mother died as a result of a plastic surgery malpractice case. She dealt with the trauma through performance and art but as Ryan Yamamoto reports, the healing began which are used the tragedy to help change a nearly 50-year-old California law that now gives victims of medical negligence a way to recoup losses from pain-and-suffering.
